Giovanni, who comes to our party often lately,
最近、毎週来てくれる留学生のジョビー君。
sincerely tried to remember and answered when I asked him "Do you have a folktale in Chili, similar to this "Samedon and Kijimner"?" while we were doing theme activity.
テューターがテーマ活動中に突然振る「チリには、『キジムナー』みたいな話、ない？」という質問に、一生懸命、考えて、思い出して、答えてくれる。
There is "El Trauco" who lives in a tree and a woman who happens to see him in his eyes ends up pregnant.(sounds like Zeus in Greek mythology, doesn't it!?) According to Wikipedia, "el trauco" is a goblin.
Giovi is good at drawing , so he drew some pictures to explain the story.
”木の精”ということから、El Traucoを、紹介してくれた。木の枝にいて、女の人が来て、目が合うと、孕むらしい。（なんだか、ギリシャ神話のゼウスを思い出す）ジョビーは、絵がうまくて、さらさらと、ホワイトボードに絵を描いて解説。
（おまけ＝HIGOはイチジクのスペイン語。Hはsilent letterで読まないので”イゴ”と読む。そのままローマ字読みしたら、熊本の旧称”肥後”になるね～なんて、話になった時のメモがそのまま残っています）
He then showed us a ghost ship story called "Caleuche" which appears covered in a thick fog in the night sky and fog suddenly clear away show the ship and if you see it , you'll be dead.
船（『キジムナー』では、サバニ）が出てくるということで、Caleucheを、紹介してくれた。こちらは、どうやら、幽霊船。霧の深い日に、霧に囲まれて現れ、突然、霧が晴れて、もし、この船を目にすると、死ぬらしい・・・。
Some Labo kids said "Wow, it's like "Pirates of Caribbean-Dead Man's Chest", isn't it?"
「『パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアンーデッドマンズ チェスト』みた～い！！」とは、ラボっ子の声。
Well, Chili is in South America, indeed not so far away from Caribbean Sea.
よく考えたら、カリブ海から、そう遠くない所に、チリはある。
