This week I listened to Don Quixote from Spain, The Three Billy Goats Gruff from Scandinavian folktales, The Westward Odyesey from China, and The Fairy Cow again.
今週、聞いたのは、スペインから『ドン・キホーテ』、北欧民話から『三匹のヤギのがらがらどん』,中国の『西遊記』、それに、また『妖精のめ牛』。
Every story has the fond memories of labo kids.
それぞれの話に、ラボっこ達の懐かしい思い出が詰まっている。
Every time I listen to The Fairy Cow, I feel that it is full of messages for us who live on present-day earth.
『妖精のめ牛』を聞くたびに、現代の地球上に生活する私たちに対しての”メッセージてんこ盛り”だと、感じる。
Maybe I read too much into the story.
私が、深読みしすぎているのかもしれない。
But I really feel that this story tells us a lot.
しかし、このお話から私たちが感じることは、たくさんあるような気がする。
Oh, I almost forgot to write that I also listened to CHOO CHOO, The Restaurant with Many Orders.
忘れるところだったけれど、『いたずら機関車 ちゅうちゅう』と『注文の多い料理店』も聞いた。
I think these are from USA and Japan, but the LABO LIBRARY WORLD MAP which I got from the Kyushu office doesn't tell which countries they are from.
この二つのお話は、アメリカと日本のものだと思うけれど、事務局からもらったラボ・ライブラリーＷＯＲＬＤ ＭＡＰには、書いてない。

熊本電波高専の留学生たちの「お母さん」に電話をしてみた。
I was looking for a student from Sri Lanka who could read us a story in Singhalese.
シンハラ語で読み聞かせをしてくれるスリランカからの留学生を探していたのだ。
It's a pity at a moment there are no student from the country.
スルランカからの留学生は、今はいないという。残念！
There are students from Mongolia, Malaysia, Indonesia,Cambodia,
African countries, and Finland now. Wow!
今は、モンゴル、マレーシア、インドネシア、カンボジア、アフリカ諸国、フィンランドからの留学生がいるという。すごい！！
Once a Sri Lankan student joined Labo Kumamoto Spring Camp in Aso.
昔、スリランカの留学生が阿蘇であった熊本地区合宿に参加したことがあった。
Even if it was in March, the mountains were covered with snow.
３月だったのに、山には雪。
It was cold！
寒かった！
We talked about the stupa in the distance.
遠くに見える仏舎利等について、彼と話をした。
He was from the country where people believe in Buddhism.
その留学生は、仏教国スリランカの出身であった。
I wonder what he is doing now.
今頃、何をしているのだろう。
I wish I could find someone who could read a Singhalese story for us, for my labo kids are dying to hear the sound of the language.
シンハラ語の絵本を読んでくれる人が見つかるといいな・・・。ラボっ子たちも、すごくシンハラ語を聞きたがっているのにな～。
